Worked example
108 ft of wall at 9 ft is 972 sq ft. Minus 140 sq ft of openings gives 832 sq ft; with 10% allowance, plan 915.2 sq ft before package rounding.
Assumptions
- Perimeter covers faces receiving the same material.
- Average height is appropriate only for the grouped faces.
- Opening subtraction follows the selected assembly's rules.
Caveats
- Gables, bays, trim, laps, exposure, corners, starter, flashing, and transitions are separate.
- Manufacturer coverage can differ from nominal panel area.
- Water, air, fire, wind, and fastening design require review.
