Worked example
A 24 ft wall at 16 in on center gives ceiling(288 / 16) + 1 = 19 baseline positions.

- Spacing begins at one end.
- All repeated runs use the same length and spacing.
Caveats
- This is not a framing design or final material order.
- Openings and intersections usually add pieces.
- Member size, grade, species, fastening, bracing, loads, and code review are excluded.
