Clear bay width = interior width - vehicle width - fixed storage depth - selected side-use zones. Clear bay depth = interior depth - vehicle length - front and rear operating zones. A positive number is only geometric clearance; it does not establish door, fire, ventilation, structural, or electrical suitability.

Worked planning example

A 10 ft wide bay with a 6 ft 8 in vehicle and 24-inch storage along one wall leaves about 16 inches total before door-opening allowance. The vehicle shape fits, but use does not. Moving storage to the back or widening the bay creates a more honest concept.
